Pennsylvania GOP Senator Pat Toomey won’t run for re-election in 2022, said two people familiar with his plans.
The decision of Toomey, a Conservative currently serving his second term, will spark a competition for his seat on the battlefield state in two years. Toomey had considered running for another term or for governor.
Toomey’s office declined to comment on his plans. He is expected to address the decision this week. The Pennsylvania Senator briefed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of his decision, according to two people familiar with the conversation.
